Independent Scrutineer and Finance Director Opportunities
London Hockey is currently seeking to appoint a volunteer Finance Director and an Independent Scrutineer to play a vital role in supporting the financial management and governance of the Area. These roles offer a rewarding opportunity for individuals with financial expertise to make a meaningful impact, helping to ensure transparency, accountability and long-term sustainability, while contributing directly to the continued growth and development of hockey across London.
Finance Director
London Hockey is seeking a Finance Director to join its Area Board and help oversee the financial health and sustainability of hockey across London.
The Finance Director leads on budgeting, financial planning, reporting and financial control, ensuring that London Hockey operates in line with England Hockey regulations and good governance practice. Working closely with fellow Directors, the role supports informed decision‑making, manages financial risk and helps ensure that resources are used effectively to develop and support hockey across the Area.
This is a volunteer role suited to someone with strong financial experience who is happy working in a collaborative, board environment with a range of volunteer support and a small number of paid administrators; the Finance Director works closely with and manages the Finance Administrator. An accountancy qualification or experience in sport, charity or volunteer‑led organisations would be welcome.
The role carries shared responsibility for the overall governance and strategic direction of London Hockey and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our sport in London. We are 1 of the 8 Areas which cover England Hockey and responsible for running Adult, Masters and Junior competitions, a significant Junior Talent System and have shown a national lead in supporting outreach initiatives through our Hockey Futures programme.

Independent Scrutineer
The Independent Scrutineer provides independent assurance that London Hockey’s accounts are accurate, complete and compliant with relevant accounting standards. The role involves reviewing financial records and transactions, assessing controls and balances, and reporting findings to members at the AGM, helping to ensure transparency and accountability.
