London Hockey takes the welfare of junior players very seriously and believes all young people participating in hockey (regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability or disability) have the right to play in an environment free from poor practice, abuse and harm.
England Hockey has a wealth of information relevant to Areas, Clubs, Schools, Members and everyone interested in managing safe, inclusive hockey. Please use the information you find here and also via the EH Safeguarding portal.
London Hockey Safeguarding Policy also contains ready links to EH information and/or information prepared for use in London. If you want guidance on a specific Safeguarding role or activity, try the EH Safeguard page. In addition, guidance and signposting for relevant training is on the EH website, too.
Risk Assessment is a key component of safeguarding and London Hockey has developed a risk matrix with our Junior Committee identifying the risks and mitigations relevant to our hire and use of pitches.
Mark Bennett, our Governance Director, is filling this role temporarily whilst we look for a more permanent solution. He fills a similar role for his club.
If you have any concerns regarding player welfare or safeguarding, Mark should be your first point of contact but if she is unavailable, please contact Dawn Bonner, London Hockey Safeguarding Officer or Alison Hogg, Ethics & Welfare Manager at England Hockey.
